and Guided Reading

Presented by Jayson Welden, Kate Snyder, and Nicole

Multi-Age Community TimeWhat is Community Time?78 1st-3rd grade students join together in one classroom every morning for 20-30 minutes to participate in social-emotional learning activities with 3 teachers and 2 teacher residents.

They perform skits on our Core Values in their multi-age tribes.

As a result, students build new and lasting bonds across grades.

Multi-Age Community TimeHow has Community Time impacted the life of a student?

Students have a greater sense of community as they play with peers across grades and work with teachers from different grade levels.

Multi-Age Community TimeWhere do we go from here?

We plan to teach about goal setting and build in Accountabilibuddies.

Multi-Age Guided Reading

What is Multi-Age Guided Reading?Data is triangulated across three grade levels and students are grouped into targeted small groups for guided reading. Students move through 3 classrooms to receive guided reading instruction and complete their Literacy Work Plans. CAL Teacher Residents and our literacy specialists pull extra intervention groups, so the student: teacher ratio can be as low as 10:1 during this block.
