WHAT IS #ELWHUNT?

What is #ELWHUNT?

• #ELWHUNT is a smartphone photo evidence based

scavenger hunt for ASTD Chapter Leaders and worldwide

learning professionals!

• Participants work to complete Missions and submit photo

evidence of their accomplishments!

#ELWHUNT Objectives• MODEL - model elements of the ASTD Workplace Learning & Performance

(WLP) Competency Model, including leveraging Team-Building, Social Learning

& Mobile Technologies

• CRITICAL THINKING & STRATEGY - practice critical thinking & strategizing

skills as you work to complete Missions

• COOPERATE & COLLABORATE - practice cooperation and collaboration with

other learning professionals - worldwide - as you earn points for solving

challenges together

• ENGAGEMENT & LEARNING TRANSFER - you'll learn A LOT about the ASTD

WLP Competency Model and CPLP certification while playing this game!

Consider how you can use games - such as this - to build engagement and

facilitate learning transfer of the subject matter you train on!

• PLAY! - as Dan Pink says in "A Whole New Mind," learning how to play is a

critical skill for 21st century, as it's key to "bring humor and light-heartedness to

business and products."

The Basics

• What is the game timeframe?

• Start: October 19, 2012 (ASTD Leaders Conference)

• End: December 7, 2012 (ASTD Employee Learning Week)

• Who can play?

• Learning professionals located anywhere in the world with access

to an iOS or Android based smartphone.

• How much does it cost?

• Nothing! Due to the generous support of our sponsors, #ELWHUNT

is FREE for participants to play!

Prizes

• Are there prizes?

• Yes! Missions will continue to evolve over time - some of

them will be worth prizes during game play. (See each

individual Mission for details.)

• The Top 3 players - by total points - at the end of the

game (December 7, 2012) will be awarded SPECIAL

prizes!

• Winners will be announced at the close of ASTD

Employee Learning Week on December 7, 2012 at the

ASTD Memphis Conference held at the FedEx World

Technology Center.

What are Missions?

• Missions are activities for individuals to complete before

time runs out on the hunt. Evidence of a completed

mission is provided by uploading a photo to the game

system. Our judges then check to ensure the photo shows

evidence that the directions in the Mission were met.

• Keep watching! New Missions will be added as the game

goes on. :-D
