Part 2

If his Legacy was to continue, Arthur needed a wife, but who? While he had masterminded the marriages of his older children, Mathias felt a certain reluctance when it came to his son and heir.

If Arthur were truly to carry on the Legacy, shouldn’t he choose his own wife?

And so Arthur was sent out to the park in search of a likely candidate.

He looked.

And looked.

And looked.

AN: This gem ended up marrying Malcolm Landgraab. Luckily, she aged to elder before either of them could pass along their genes and further pollute the shallow Sunset Valley pool.

Still looking.

And– wait a minute. Where’d he go?

Search made you hungry, huh, Arthur?

Wait a minute. I know that walk.

…And Lisa Bunch looks way too happy.

Damn it Arthur!

Hungry and discouraged, Arthur ended up at the bistro where he was greeted with crepes and a surprising “Woohoo with…” opportunity. After a day of futile searching and a few glasses of bistro nectar, it seemed like a good idea.

Blind though he may be, Arthur is a good boy and popped the all important marriage question to his fling.

Who turned out to be married. A quick woohoo in the bistro restroom was fine by Lisa, but amorous hugs and this relationship talk was too much for the married woman.

Way to go, programing.

They parted amicably, indulging in a first, and last, jam session after she shot him down.

So, how do you feel your boy did last night, Mathias?

That’s quite a scowl.

Mathias: I’m taking over now.

Good call.

It didn’t take long for Mathias to make his move. The very next morning…

Arthur: … wtf.

It was a party. All the eligible young woman in Sunset where invited. Very Cinderella, Mathias.

Except eligibility was determined by the attractiveness of their phonebook headshots. Not marital status.

Classy.

Still. Some uglies snuck in. The redhead is Ursine spawn. She wasn’t on the guest list.

Women.

Everywhere.

Kate was going along with it. She wants grandchildren.

It was all too much for the new butler.

His predicament sent one of the candidates into gales of laughter.

That’s a real keeper there…

Butler-whats-his-name: I hope you crawl into a hole and die, ma’am.

Despite Mathias careful planning of the guest list, pickings were still slim.

Too old.

Too related… Nice face, Diana.

Hang on, who’s this?!

Hullo, there blue-eyes. Are you sure you’re old enough for this party?

Marisol: Course I am. It’s just the pigtails that make me look like jailbait.

Hrm…

Kate’s been sent to Get to Know this candidate. Her hair is a murkier brown than ideal, but those eyes are something else.

One of the other guests seemed to notice Kate’s importance in the marriage decision and made a beeline for her as she began to talk to Marisol.

Meanwhile Arthur did some socializing of his own.

New!Butler didn’t approve. Even though she had her hair down now.

New!Butler: I’m quitting if you marry her, sir.

Eventually, the three most likely girls were wrangled into the drawing room. (Where Kate draws/paints. Harr).

For the sake of fairness, they were made to have the same hairstyle… which may be why Caroline looks terrified.

Caroline: What have I gotten myself into?!

Don’t worry Caro, just pose for the camera. She fits the house, don’t you think? Very English horsewoman-y.

Caroline: Neurotic, Schmoozer, Clumsy, Friendly. (Mixologist).

The butler’s nemesis, Jocelyn. Purple eyes like Kate, and pearls. Good touch, girl. You’ll fit right in.

Jocelyn: Flirty, Hydrophobic, Mean Spirited, Loser. (Pizza delivery girl).

… Charming. (Pity, she’s my favorite gene donor, looks-wise).

Marisol. Did you have to wear the yellow, cartoon mummy shirt, Marisol?

Marisol: Good, Family Oriented, Neat, Athletic. (Butler).

And now…

Wtf, EA. Wtf. Is it just me or are they triplets with dye jobs and varying levels of sun exposure?

Jocelyn thinks she has this, and the house, in the bag. Cozying up to mom, clever woman. If only you were evil instead of mean spirited…

Arthur seemed to have warmed to the arranged marriage idea, or maybe it’s just his party animal trait showing.

Arthur: I’ll marry her, and have children, and be able to carry on Father’s legacy…

Mathias got to you good, huh? Hero worship isn’t exactly healthy kid. Well, anyway, which girl’s caught your eye?

Arthur: Um…

You don’t know?

Arthur: They’re just all so similar, it’s hard to choose.

Maybe the readers can help you there…

Arthur: Readers? What readers?

Don’t destroy my optimism, Arthur.

Arthur: I’m alone in this decision, I’m doom. Doooomed!

Hello, excitable trait.
