BEDROCK-NEWS THE OFFICICIAL QUARTERLY PUBLICATION OF THE BEDROCK PROSPECTORS CLUB
January - February 2013
MONTHLY MEETING PLACE PUYALLUP MASONIC HALL
HELD ON THE THIRD MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH
1005 West Pioneer Ave.
7:30 pm – 9:30 pm
In the next few pages, you will
receive a multitude of very valuable
information. So consider this your
2013 Bedrock Guide for the
upcoming year.
Well, I just received the 2013
calendar and I am trying to put it
words and I’m a little speechless.
Ok, Outrageous!, Yep!, that’s it.
What? Not outrageous? Ok, just
how would you describe it. What
would you call say Three Gold
Shows, Two Giant Beach Outings,
another Huge Memorial Day Outing
at Blewett, Our famous
Rendezvous, The Liberty Miners
Rally, three Cabela’s outings and a
special day with The City of
University Place. And let’s not
forget, we’re running our Bedrock
Prospector’s Giant raffle again this
year with even more exciting prizes
than last year. I also see four or
more Metal detectors hunts and
three of them are at night! This is
besides our weekend outings at the
claims and all those terrific Pot
Luck Suppers. Are you still having
trouble calling all this Outrageous?
Well, then just remember this, all
these events are created for you,
one of our many Bedrock
Prospectors members. All of our
events are free for you to attend
and enjoy. Amazing what $35.00 a
year gets you these days. Yeah….
I thought so. Now you are starting
to see it my way. Pretty incredible
but wait! There’s even more to
boast about , but not all in the first
page. You’re going to have to read
the whole newsletter.
Last year, you noticed we put on
some pretty nice outings, like the
Memorial Day outing at Blewett
and our Rendezvous. We had
record attendances at both outings
and let’s not forget our Christmas
party. Who would have figured that
one. Yes these were spectacular
events for 2012. But….. Nothing
and I have to say it again.
Nothing…. Compared to what is
already taking shape for 2013. Our
April Spring Fling on the beach is
already setting record attendance
with camp site rentals and it’s just
January.
Seems like Bedrock Prospectors
will be taking over the Cape
Disappointment State Park that
week end.
Our Sept. Salute to our Military
Families is filling up spaces nicely
as well. Looks like Beach mining is
here to stay. We are also planning
to make our June Rendezvous one
of the biggest ever and Memorial
Day, yes we’re doing it again up at
Blewett and with the heavy snows
and enormous amounts of rain this
winter, we should be seeing a lot
more gold in the streams.
So get ready for a spectacular
prospecting season and let’s make
2013 on for the books!
Our Christmas Dinner! This year’s Christmas dinner was
just like last years and most every
other Christmas dinner we’ve held
in the past…
What are you kidding! Not even
close! There are no words to
describe exactly what was going
thru my mind when I heard we ran
out of seats and there was still a
line at the door. Shear PANIC!
Would put it mildly. What were we
going to do? We had no
emergency plan for this. It’s never
happened before. Came close
once or twice, yes, but not like
this…. But as if a blast of
Christmas hit the hall, members
were giving up their seats so others
could be seated. Then I knew all
was well. I knew we had enough
food, But the hall was packed in
like sardines. You just had to be
there. It’s the only way I can
explain it. My next thoughts were
on my wife in the kitchen…Oh, my
god.. So many people and just her
and I to keep the table under
control and filled with hot food. I
hurried into the kitchen and to my
surprise, there was an army of help
pulling trays from the oven, tossing
salad, scurrying
Between the serving table and the
kitchen. Just then I knew I was just
in the way.
I still don’t know the exact figure for
attendance that night, and ya
know…. It doesn’t matter. We
pulled it off..
Things after that went very well.
The club had worked its way thru
the bingo and thru the next two
sessions of door prize raffles and
the special attendance raffle. We
had filled the front table with so
many prizes, between the bingo
prizes and everything else, it was
hard not to go home without
something. I do have to thank the
Washing State Parks people for
their generous donation of those
Discover Passes. I am sure they
will come in handy.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that
we had given some very special
gifts away to our members who put
their time in on the shows and all
the other events bedrock attended.
Our own Richard Holcomb won a
Gold Cube and Bill Willette won
Gold –N-Sand and a beautiful
nugget. There were just too many
great prizes to list each one. .
The silent auction even went so
well were able to end it a little
early. And we hit a small record in
what we took in for the auction.
This will go a long way to help pay
for our hall rent for the year..
Yes this was a night to remember.
This night we were surrounded with
so many great folks, so much great
food and Christmas spirit, how
could I say anything other than we
wish you were here.
Bedrock Prospectors 2013 Big Season Raffle This year’s raffle is just what it says
BIG! We have even more prizes
than last year and they’re even
bigger. So many, we have decided
to break them up in several
drawings, thru-out the season.
Just way too many to hold all
season long. The list is
Unbelievable. Again, we will be
having contributors such as The
GPAA , Minelab, White’s
Electronics, Fisher, Bounty Hunter,
Teknetic’s, Gold Rush Trading
Post, Apex Picks, Keene
Engineering, Parker’ Prospecting
Co. The Gold Cube Folks as well
as Red from Gold-N-Sand, The
New 49er’s, Lost Treasure
magazine, Keene Industries,
Belda’s Metal Detector Supply from
Oregon. Rosewind Mining Supply,
RCM Ent.s and So many others…
The list is just too long and we are
receiving more donations every
day. So through the year you will
see the advertising banners from
many of these great companies.
Please feel free to check out their
web sites and or their stores and
maybe you can take advantage of
some of the many great deals they
are offering this season.

Now, just like last year, our goal is
to help PLP & Resource Coalition
with their enormous expenses
fighting for our rights and seeing
that our Public Lands are kept
open to enjoy without restrictions.
www.goldgold.com
This is a huge task and takes a lot
of funding if they are to continue.
They can’t do it alone. Only with
the help of all of us can this giant
struggle be won. Raffles such as
this one are so important and
remain one of the main resources
of their funding.
www.goldprospectors.org
So come on and take a chance on
winning a great prize and join in to
help keep our lands and rights free
of regulations. It’s only a dollar a
ticket and oh, the prizes are even
bigger and better than last year.
And!, we have a lot more to give
away. We start giving to the prizes
away at the Monroe Gold Show ,
then the Puyallup GPAA Gold
Show, then The April Spring Fling,
and at the Bedrock Rendezvous
,then on to the Liberty Miners Rally
where the 2013 Bedrock
Prospectors raffle comes to an
end. Yes, it’s going to be a much
longer, but bigger raffle season

Isn’t it great to see all these
outstanding supporters. Many from
last year, and a few new faces on
the pages . We sincerely
appreciate all those companies,
big and small who have generously
donated to our raffle and club
events. Please if you happen to
get the chance to speak to any of
our contributors, let them know
who you are and give them a word
of thanks for their support.

BEDROCK PROSPECTORS
SPRING FLING ON THE BEACH
April 12th, 13th, and 14th 2013
Being held at Cape Disappointment State Park
Ilwaco, WA
Want to learn to beach mine? Want
to learn how to metal detect on the
beach? Just want to have a heck of
a good time? This is the place you
want to be. Bedrock Prospectors
are sponsoring this huge three day
event. We want everyone to come
out and have some fun at one of
the most beautiful
Beaches Washington has to offer.
The week end will be packed full of
exciting events, such as two full
days of beach mining, a double
session night metal detector hunt
and a huge Sat. eve. Pot Luck
Dinner, and to finish off such a
fantastic event, we will be drawing
winning tickets from our 2013
annual raffle to support PLP and
Resource Coalition. Prizes such
as a 2013 new model White’s
metal detector, a Gold Cube and a
pair of Gold-N-Sand dredge units,
as well as a few gold nuggets and
many other prizes.
Yes, Mike Pung and Red Wilcox of
The Gold Cube and Gold–n-Sand
have generously donated some
magnificent prizes for this event
and raffle, and where would we be
without one of our biggest
supporters, White’s Electronics,
These great folks never cease to
amaze me with their enormous
amounts of generosity. They are
donating a Brand New Coin Master
GT for the event. Like I said, this
is going to be an event to
remember. Oh, did I forget to
mention about the gold. Yep,
there’s gold on this beach and we
want you to come out and get
some for yourself.
This will probably be the only time you will get the rare privilege to see as many as a few dozen Gold Cubes working on the beach all at the same time or for that matter, get to see say fifty or so grown adults crawling around on the ground at night with just their metal detector searching for secretly well placed coins and treasures. You don’t have a gold cube? Don’t know what it is?. Come on out and we will be happy to demonstrate this great machine for you. You don’t have a metal detector, no problem with that either. There are always a few extra machines to share with.
Now camp sites are filling fast and we expect this to be a record club event so you have to reserve you space quick. We are running this event RAIN OR SHINE! Not a Bedrock Prospectors member?, Our family membership is just 35.00 per year and you can join at the event. Otherwise, we are extending this invitation to everyone interested in beach mining and metal detecting. So please think about attending. You won’t be disappointed. Also, please remember, this is a family event, so bring the kids. We will have lots for them to do as well. For up to date information on reservations, membership info Wash. State Park rules and regulations, WDFW rules and regulations in regards to having HPA’s for participating in the beach mining and just general information on the event you can find everything on our website at: http://bedrockprospectors.org
BEDROCK PROSPECTORS
Salute To Our Military Families
Sept 20th,21st , and 22nd 2013
Being held at Cape Disappointment State Park
Ilwaco, WA Yes, This is a week end where the members of Bedrock Prospectors get to give back and say thanks to a few of our Military service men and women and their families. Our club has done this over the years up at our Blewett claims but we wanted to do something a little different this year. We wanted these families to be able to spend a week end out at the beach instead of the woods. Oh!, I forgot to mention, we are not doing this alone. We have two very special organizations to thank for helping get this week end under way. Our own Washington State Parks Dept. and a very special group of individuals who make up the back bone of the Parks Dept. The Washington State Park Rangers Association. This very unique group of people are have graciously volunteered to help us out with the funding of the camp sites for our honored guests. We hope to see as many Park Rangers
as possible out at our event to say thanks. The Washington State Parks Dept. has agreed to block off a section of Section C for us for this event. We have 30 spaces locked in as of right now. So until further notice, if you would like to attend, you must see either me or Richard for a camp space. Camp spaces must be paid for before January 10
th,
2013. After that, you may not be able to get a space. This is a very desirable section of the park . We are taking reservations now and are filling up fast, and just remember, if you know anything about the park, this is a limited utilities section. You may bring any size camper or trailer you like, but there is no water or electric hook up at the sites. Water is located at the entrance to the beach path and at the shower and rest facilities building.
Costs are just 50 dollars for Friday and Saturday evening, and if you would like to spend Thursday night, the 19
th, we have just a few spaces
left it’s just 75.00 for the three nights.
This should be a spectacular outing. We are filling it with a very special Double Night Treasure Hunt on Sat. eve. right after one of our Famous Pot Luck Dinners. We will be Prospecting on the beach as well as hunting hidden treasures. And let us not forget, we will be running the last part of our 2013 raffle and will be giving away some very exciting prizes on Sunday. But most of all, just hanging out and enjoying the beautiful surroundings of this great state park. It doesn’t get better than this folks. Great Food, Great folks, and Great Gold. We promise to make this a very special outing For more information on this event, please check out our website in the next few days.
Don’t forget, if you come for the day, you either need a Discover Pass or you must pay 10.00 at the front gate. A Discover Pass is just 30.00 for the whole year and will more than pay for itself if you plan to spend a lot of time prospecting on the beach this year. Now, for the good part, If you are a Bedrock member and are active military or active reserves, call me for your free camp site. If you know an active military family you would like to honor, call me with their contact info. But remember, to make sure they will be here in September. We want to honor those of our families first before we go outside the club to fill the empty spaces. Also if two military families want to
share a space, this is even better. The more the merrier.
Remember this is a family event and all are welcome to attend. If you have a friend who’s not a member but would like to attend and loves to camp out and meet new friends and just have a heck of a good time, please invite them. This is the absolute best time of the year to be at the beach at Cape Disappointment. So what are you waiting for? Oh, my contact number. 253-343-4205.
