the band.
Trademark ‘Bloc Party’ logo/font is not used on this
album cover.This demonstrates the
band’s popularity. There is now no need to
feature them OR the name of their band on
their album cover!
Bloc Party’s album covers have clearly evolved over time. Their debut album “SilentAlarm” featured a wide-shot photograph of a snowy scene, the second album “AWeekend in the City” featured a medium-shot photograph of a traffic scene, the thirdalbum “Intimacy” featured an extreme close-up shot photograph of two people kissing, and their fourth album “Four” featured a very simple graphic. The band have never needed to feature on their album covers due to their popularity anddedicated audience, but clearly over time they have felt even less of a need to feature ontheir album covers as even the name of their band has now disappeared from their albumcovers.
Name of band is large and central on the
album cover.
Name of band is smaller on their second
album cover.

white.
Very important: Instead of using all space, a small square in the centre of the cover has been used to display the artwork, band name and single name.
Same trademark font has been used for band
name.
Small square in centre of cover has been used again. Instead of using the entire cover to display their artwork, the band seem to be following a trend of using this small square.
Once again, very simple colours
have been used. Inner square
artwork contains blacks and whites; outer square is a simple tan colour.
Same font used again.

Same font has been used
following their debut album. They
continue to use this font
throughout all of their releases.
Name of band/single are much smaller on the covers for the singles from ‘A Weekend in the City’. This could be because it is Bloc Party’s 2nd album and fans will now recognise their style on a CD cover as opposed to their name.
Simple black background.
Just like they used the small inner square design on the
covers for ‘Silent Alarm’, the band are now using a rectangular
strip at the top of the CD
cover for the artwork for
singles from ‘A Weekend in
the City’.
Once again, simple and neutral colours have been used on this CD cover. At this time in their career, Bloc party didn’t tend to use vibrant/bold colours on their
covers.
Same font used once again.
Rectangular strip at the top
of the CD cover used to
display artwork.Simple black
