Blogger in the Classroom Handout
Creating a Blog
1. Go to www.blogger.com. 2. Click the “Create Your Blow Now” arrow.
3. Create a Google account or sign in using your current account.

Adding Posts
1. Enter a title for your blog. 2. Enter your message.
3. Press “Publish Post” at the bottom of the screen.
4. Press “View Blog” to see your post.

Adding Images 1. Select add image icon after selecting the “Compose” tab.
2. Upload the image.
3. Click “Add Selected”

Embed Code
1. Copy the embed code. This code is usually found after creating an element such as a video, slideshow, etc.
2. Paste the embed code in the message area of the blog. Use the HTML tab.
3. Publish the post.

Customize a Google Search
1. Go to http://www.google.com/coop/cse/
2. Press “ Create a Custom Search Engine”.
3. Name and describe your custom search engine. Add the websites you would
like to include in your search engine.
4. Copy the code.

Blog within a Blog 1. Create a second blog. Go to: http://www.widgetbox.com/make_blidget.jsp
2. Follow the online directions. You will need to create a free Widgetbox account.
3. Copy URL address of the second blog and it in the “Your Blog URL” box.
4. Follow the online directions to create a blog widget or “blidget”.

5. Save to create your new “Blidget”.
6. Click the “Get Widget” button and copy the embed code (page four of handout). 7. Paste the embed code into a post box in your first blog and publish.

Sharing a PDF File 1. Save any word document as a PDF file. Go to “File” in the upper left corner of Word and scroll down to “Save as…” and change the format from a “Word Document” to a “PDF”.
2. Go to: www.issuu.com 3. Create and account and upload the PDF file you just saved. 4. Copy and paste the embed code into your blog.

Sharing a PowerPoint 1. Create a PowerPoint presentation.
2. Go to: www.slideshare.net 3. Upload the PowerPoint to SlideShare.
4. Copy the embed code and paste it into your blog post.

Sharing a Video
1. Find a desired video on TeacherTube or YouTube. Go to: www.teachertube.com or www.youtube.com
2. Copy and paste the embed code into your blog.
OR
3. Upload a video from your computer or desired website.
