Somatotypes

Somatotypes Endomorph – large bones, stocky legs,

wide hips. Mesomorph – broad shoulders, muscular

arms, trim waist. Ectomorph – small bones, trim muscles,

slender arms and legs.

Body types vary!

Measuring Body Composition

Skin Fold Caliper BMI (Body Mass Index) Hydrostatic Weighing

Fat Cell Development During the first year of life. During a growth spurt in adolescence.

Obesity vs. Overweight

Overweight: having more body fat than is considered healthy

BMI of between 25–29.9

Obesity: excess body fat has accumulated so health may be negatively affected.

BMI higher then 30
