DESCRIPTION

http://www.Media4MathPlus.com In this PowerPoint Presentation we show how to convert a linear equation in Standard Form to a linear function in Slope Intercept Form. We go over the reason for such a conversion and applications that give rise to these equations. We also show how to use our Math Solver for converting Standard Form to Slope Intercept Form.

TRANSCRIPT

Standard Form

There are times when a linear equation needs to be expressed in Standard Form.

Standard Form

Let’s look at an example:•A deli sells sandwiches for $4 and sodas for $2.50. In one day it earned $750. What combination of sandwiches and sodas could it have sold?

Standard Form

This results in the following equation:

Sandwich price Soda price

Standard Form

This is a linear equation in Standard Form. To graph it, change it to Slope-Intercept Form.

Standard Form

Our Math Solver that converts an equation from Standard Form to Slope-Intercept Form shows this process.

Standard Form

Here is the Solver.

Standard Form

Input values for A, B, and C. Then press Solve.

Standard Form

Input the specific values. Then press Solve.

Standard Form

This is the equation in Slope-Intercept Form. You can graph this equation on a Graphing Calculator.
