A Walk On Moss A Walk On Moss was a play written and directed by Robert and Rayanne Charlie. The ob-jective of the play was to bring to light issues such as colonization, loss of language and tradition, and the effects of residential schools on First Nations. The cast is made up of 15 Burns Lake residents who travelled this spring to Prince George, Fort St James, and
Smithers to perform the play in there communities.
The cast included: Chief Robert Charlie, Wilf Plasway Jr, Scott Stoecker, Theresa Patrick, Monica Nguyen, Kyle Sam, Lee Calhoun, Kelly Tizya, Michael Blair, Sonya Patrick, Destiny
Michelle, Cori Johnson, Keshia Lowley, Lucy Fortin, Darien Petit, and Geronimo Alec.
The cast and directors plan to take a year break from the play and then bring it on the
road again in hopes of performing in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal.

BLNDC hosted our 11th annual Aboriginal Day this year in Burns Lake. The Parade took place on Government Street at 10:00 am and the festivities began at 11:00 am at Spirit Square. More than four hundred people from Burns Lake and surrounding areas were in
attendance and participated in the day’s events and enjoyed the entertainment.
Local artists such as: A Walk On Moss cast, Lake Babine Nation Hereditary Singers, Primal Stance, Joel West and the Distributors, and Muriel Mould Primary School students put up a
great show that everyone enjoyed.
The Old Fort Traditional Dancers and Doris Munger brought their traditional groups from
out of town to perform as well.
It was a fun day in the sun and BLNDC thanks all the sponsors, volunteers, and community
members for helping us make this year such a great success!
