With over 12 years of experience as an illustrator and graphic designer for the entertainment industry, BATTLEGROUND studio founder and senior artist William Borde is a seasoned pro. The harsh demands of working at Warner Bros. molded, shaped and ultimately prepared him for the transition into a successful career as a freelance illustrator.

Self described as loyal, caring, and possibly funny- Borde collaborated with C1RCA Select to produce a piece symbolic of an American icon- the bald eagle. Having done designs using eagles in the past, Borde wanted to make this one a bit different. Borde says, “ I thought I

would make this piece more dynamic by giving the eagle a more aggressive look and most importantly looking directly at the viewer. There is something unique about having the principal element in an illustration interact with the person looking at it, it becomes more engaging.”

Feeling strongly about American made products, Borde’s integration of the eagle illustration into the C1RCA Select line embodies his feelings that America is a strong country with abilities and strength in the biggest times of need- dating all the way back to World War II. Borde explains the strength and power of America and it’s products by saying, “If anyone ever

wonders what Americans are capable of producing in times of crisis, you need only to look back at the 4 years after the attack on Pearl Harbor... We were a nation completely unprepared and ill-equipped to fi ght a war... Yet the country united and directed its effort towards a common goal, winning. Understanding that sacrifi ce had to be made the American people went to work, they labored day and night and put all their time and energy into producing the best of planes, Navy ships, tanks, etc. All the while the people saved, recycled and played an essential part towards victory... I think there is a core in this country that still believes in being united towards a common goal.”
