MR. ARNOLD H ARTSEN

DEDICATION

On the football field or in the gym or after school

our coach has always given to us -- he has given of his

time, of his effort, of his dreams, of his very life. And

we have always accepted and taken everything for granted,

but now that we are Seniors and will be gone shortly, we

give to him this yearbook, a dedication of grateful respect

and fond remembrance.

"I was very happy to be your A. F. S. student this

year. I really enjoyed my stay here. In Lyndonville, I

lived with the family of Robert Whipple. As you probably know I come from Norway; I live in the Capital,

Oslo, with my family and only brother, Tor. The way

we live in Norway is much the same as yours. When I

leave your country sometime in July this year, I'll miss

my home and school here. But I will never forget all

that happened to me in Lyndonville, and I hope maybe

to come back. Finally, I would like to thank you for

having me here, and especially you who made it pos

sible for me to come. "

"I consider myself very fortunate to have been

chosen by AFS to live in Iloilo City, the Philippines,

with Honora to Bas and his family. And, although I only

lived there for ten weeks, it's not just his family any

more, but it's mine, too. That's what AFS does, and that's why I'm very fortunate. "

JUNIOR PROM

The 1964 Junior Prom, "Some Enchanted Evening", was the first prom held in the new gym. This was, of course, something a little special, but it meant extra miles of crepe paper . . .

Marge Nowak and Terry Martin were crowned King and Queen of what was, as far as any of us are

concerned, the best Junior Prom ever.

Mr. Donald Herry

The Student Council is a kind of experiment in democracy for young people; its most important

lesson is probably in the annual race for president. But the whole experiment is designed so that, even

if the wrong president is elected or even if the Council makes a mistake, no one can suffer any grave

consequences. And, if we learn from our mistakes, the experiment can only be successful.

FUTURE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

ADVISOR • • • MR. RICHARD FARWELL

The Future Teachers of America, Lucian A. Webber Chapter, comprises students who think they

would like to enter teaching as a profession. The organization arranges for members to spend time in

elementary classrooms, assisting regular teachers. This provides a first hand learning experience. The

club also invites representatives from nearby colleges to tell the members a little more about the life

they may enter.

LEFT TO RIGHT: M. Costich, L. Woodworth, S. Farwell, G. Barringer, Mr. Farwell, J. Kimball, P. Miller, C. Houseman, N. Schompert.

LIBRARY CLUB

ADVISOR • • • • MRS, ELOISE OAKES

The Library Club assists Mrs. Oakes, the regular librarian, in cataloguing, sorting, stacking, and

keeping track of hundreds of books and magazines. For their efforts, the members receive a small

insight into library administration, which could be very valuable to them in later life. But for now,

they're helping someone, and there can be a lot of satisfaction in that alone.

PRESS CLUB

This year the Tiger's Roar was published weekly, or at least as often as practical. Sometimes

there was a lot of news, sometimes there wasn't. That didn't matter, though; whenever an issue came

out it created a small uproar, for it was our paper, put together by us. And that's why, although it

may not be the greatest school paper around, it will still be published long after we have gone.

AMERICAN FIELD SERVICE CLUB

ADVISOR - MRS, JOAN HUNTINGTON

The American Field Service Club is living proof that the students want to know what the rest of

the world is like. One of the club's functions is to raise money. The members feel that since they are

benefiting by contact with the exchange students, they should share the responsibility of bringing foreign

students here. They all help out with the selling of candy bars and pizza. The club also sells school

supplies and sweat shirts.

BATON TWIRLING

These four girls are in Mr. Plummer's department; they lead the band whenever it marches.

While they lead, they do all sorts of things with their batons, things which neither you or I can do. Think

about it next time they come by.

FOOTBALL

The football team had a poor year. The record

book says so. The record book doesn't say anything

about blocking or tackling or being part of a u n i t, though-

nowhere in it is there a section on having fun or learning

how to do your part. The record book measures wins,

not human experience. And in the end, which is really

more important?

The football team had a good year . . .
