Statistics

say that

85%

of churches in America

are either

declining or stagnate

Churches Closing at a Rapid RateIn the forward of the book printed by College Press “Church

Planting from the Ground Up” Edited by Tom Jones & compiled by several authors, are some staggering statistics about dying churches. The author of the forward is Tom Rainer, Dean of the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and church growth. Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky.

The statistic is this: of the approximately 400,000 churches in America, it’s estimated that 60,000 of those churches will close in the next 10 to 15 years. In 10 years that would be about 115 per week. 15 years would be approximately 76 per week.

This is staggering not only because of the fact itself, but because previous statistics indicated only about 7 churches per week closing down.

Thus the overwhelming need for Church Encouragement Services Inc.

(New life for churches.)
