    Sec.176.170Componentsofpaperandpaperboardincontactwithaqueousandfattyfoods.

    Substancesidentifiedinthissectionmaybesafelyusedascomponentsoftheuncoatedorcoatedfoodcontactsurfaceofpaperandpaperboardintendedforuseinproducing,manufacturing,packaging,processing,preparing,treating,packing,transporting,orholdingaqueousandfattyfoods,subjecttotheprovisionsofthissection.ComponentsofpaperandpaperboardincontactwithdryfoodofthetypeidentifiedunderTypeVIIIoftable1inparagraph(c)ofthissectionaresubjecttotheprovisionsof176.180.

    (a)Substancesidentifiedinparagraph(a)(1)through(5)ofthissectionmaybeusedascomponentsofthefoodcontactsurfaceofpaperandpaperboard.Paperandpaperboardproductsshallbeexemptedfromcompliancewiththeextractiveslimitationsprescribedinparagraph(c)ofthissection:Provided,Thatthecomponentsofthefoodcontactsurfaceconsistentirelyofoneormoreofthesubstancesidentifiedinthisparagraph:Andprovidedfurther,Thatifthepaperorpaperboardwhenextractedundertheconditionsprescribedinparagraph(c)ofthissectionexceedsthelimitationsonextractivescontainedinparagraph(c)ofthissection,informationshallbeavailablefrommanufacturingrecordsfromwhichitispossibletodeterminethatonlysubstancesidentifiedinthisparagraph(a)arepresentinthefoodcontactsurfaceofsuchpaperorpaperboard.
