Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship

To deport is to send an immigrant back to his/her country of origin.

Naturalization

• The process by which an immigrant can become a citizen of the United States.

Income tax day is April 15 every year.

The word “Regressive” applies to a tax that all Americans pay equally.

Subpoena

• A judge’s order to appear in court to testify

Propaganda

•Material that is slanted deliberately to support or to harm a cause.

US citizens must be 18 years old to vote.

Interest groups

• Organizations set up to lobby the government about particular political issues.
