CHAPMAN SCHOOLS

Student Council Elections 2012

Posters

You are required to put up three posters at school. You will need to put one in the lobby, one in the lunch room, and you can put the other one anywhere.

Each person gets two pieces of poster board to make posters. You can make more, but I can only provide 2.

You can also make paper flyers. I have some colored paper you can have to make flyers.

Always check your spelling on your posters!Your poster must include your name and

what you are running for. Posters cannot be put in bathrooms, on

lockers, on doors, or on teacher bulletin boards.

You can meet me in the lunch room any day next week at 7:00 AM and I can help you make posters.

You can identify certain issues or policies that are meaningful to your classmates and make it a part of your campaign, but do not promise anything unrealistic.

On the last day of the elections you will need to help remove your posters by 3:30 PM.

Not following these guidelines can result in being removed from the election.

Do not remove, damage, or place anything over other students’ posters or signs.

If, for any reason, you wish to quit the election, you must let Mrs. Cleckler know by Thursday, September 13, before ballots are printed.

You do not have to spend any money to run for student council. If you do, you can only spend $10.00.

Candidates are not allowed to say anything negative about the other candidates.

No one is allowed to hand out candy, food, stickers or drinks as a part of student council elections.

Speeches

You are required to give a 1 minute mini speech about why you would be the best candidate. You will say your speech on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday of next week during morning announcements over the intercom.

Several teachers have volunteered to help you write a good speech and let you practice with them. Ms. Buckelew, Mrs. Cleckler, Mrs. Johnson (BTA), Ms. Jones, and Mrs. Haught will all help you. You need to have it done by Tuesday morning.

Sample Speech

My name is Mrs. Cleckler and I am running for student council vice president. I believe I am the best choice for the vice president because I am a hard worker, a good communicator, and I want to make our school the best around. I have some good ideas about ways to improve our school, and I always want to hear your ideas. I like helping others and I know we can work together! I am the best choice for the job! Help make our school the best! Vote Mrs. Cleckler for student council vice president!

YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO POSTERS UP BY

MONDAY!

Last Things…

All campaign posters and signs must be student made. You can get helps from family, friends, and teachers. No professional items may be used.

Elections will be next Friday! The names will be listed on the ballot in

alphabetical order. After voting, ballots will be counted by Student Council advisors and results will be announced on Friday.

Good luck!
