GREATER LOVE….
Today we remember one of the worst days in our history.
In combined attacks at the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon
in D.C., and on an aircraft that went down near Somerset, PA, almost
3000 lives were taken by terrorists. Most of us remember exactly where
we were, and we remember the horror that gripped us as we watched the
news accounts.
We also remember the brave “First Responders” who ran to the danger, setting aside thoughts of
their own safety as they endeavored to save others.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down
his life for his friends. John 15.13 (NIV)
On this 15th anniversary of that
awful day, we remember those who died—including those who perished
while trying to rescue others— and we express appreciation to those who assume risk every day to make
our communities safer, stronger, and more secure.
You protect and provide, help and heal, serve and sacrifice, and every citizen in our community benefits from your
labor and owes to each of you a huge debt of gratitude.
Cherry Tree Alliance Church honors and commends you.
Truly, we are…..
LOVING GOD,
LOVING YOU!

Please take time to pray for those we are honoring today…
our police force, firefighters, EMS personnel, mine rescue teams, and others who have trained and prepared themselves to protect
& serve our communities. May the Lord strengthen them &
protect them both in times of crisis & in their everyday lives!
Please also keep in your prayers those who lost a loved one fifteen years ago today in the tragic terrorist attacks of
September 11th, 2001.
Prayer of the Day
We are very much in need of nursery workers. If you love spending time with young kids, would you consider volunteering in our nursery on Sunday mornings
once a month? If so, please sign up on our church bulletin board. Please note that we will need to run child safety clearances on all our volunteers; these are
completed at no charge to you.
Salvation Army Volunteer Day Our next day to volunteer at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen will be Friday, September 16th from 10:00 AM - noon. Please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board if you can attend. If you would
like to help out by donating food items, please place them in the collection bin in the foyer. Supplies needed are cans of kidney beans and jarred sauce (typically use Prego brand but will accept all kinds of tomato sauce).
If you have any questions, please see Kristy Clements.
Would your child like to participate in our Christmas program? We are hosting a special event at Cherry Tree Alliance
Church on Sunday, December 18th. It will be an evening
service starting at 6:30 PM which features the gifts/talents of our congregation. The event, called Bringing Our Gifts, will be filled with vocal & instrumental numbers, skits, and other unique holiday performances and will include church
members of all ages. Some group performances include:
Grades 1-3 - Handbells
Grades 4-7 - Song performance using ASL (American Sign Language)
Grades 8-12 - Percussion performance piece, timbrel drill
Children/Adult Ladies - Choral piece, “A Christmas Canon” (Children ages 7 and up are invited to participate in this choral piece.
Boys must have unchanged voices to participate.)
Parents: We recently mailed to you a schedule of rehearsals for this event and a registration form. If you would like your child to participate
in any of the events listed above, please fill out the registration form & return it to the church office by Sunday, September 18th. Extra copies are available at the Kids’ Church table in the foyer. Please see Melissa Lough or Andrea Taylor with any questions.
Delight in the Lord - Legacy Builders Luncheon We would like to organize a group to attend this fall’s Legacy Builders Luncheon on Tuesday, October 4th at Chippewa Alliance Church in
Beaver Falls. The name of the program is Delight in the Lord and
features speaker Rev. J. Ray Baker. The church van will leave Cherry Tree Alliance at 9:30 AM and return at 4:00 PM. The cost
of the luncheon will be covered by the Seniors in Service fund. Please sign up on the bulletin board if you would like to attend.
See Doug or Cindy Trimmer with any questions.
Connellsville Flood Relief Efforts We have had some church members express an interest in helping with the flood relief efforts in
Connellsville. They are very much in need of volunteers to assist with various projects such as cleaning out
basements, picking up stones from yards, raking & spreading gravel, assisting with their food service, and general debris removal. They are also in need of individuals with trucks to haul garbage bags to a
dumpster. They do ask that anyone helping have a current tetanus shot as these areas may be contaminated (you can ask them for information on obtaining a free tetanus shot if yours is not up-to-date). Please wear
muck boots, even in areas that may not appear as damp as other. Masks, rubber gloves, & safety glasses are provided. If you would like to help with this relief effort, please call or text Amy Price at 724-984-3278.
Eye of the Storm
In the eye of the storm You remain in control
In the middle of the war You guard my soul
You alone are the anchor When my sails are torn Your love surrounds me (In the eye of the storm)
Holy Is the Lord
We stand and lift up our hands For the joy of the Lord
is our strength We bow down and worship Him now
How great, how awesome is He
And together we sing Everyone sing
Chorus
Holy is the Lord God Almighty The earth is filled with His glory Holy is the Lord God Almighty
The earth is filled with His glory The earth is filled with His glory
It is rising up all around It's the anthem of the
Lord's renown It's rising up all around It's the anthem of the
Lord's renown
Here I Am to Worship
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made This heart adore You
Hope of a life spent with You
Chorus So here I am to worship Here I am to bow down Here I am to say that
You're my God You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days
Oh so highly exalted Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came To the earth You created
All for love's sake became poor
And I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross And I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

Women’s & Men’s Bible Studies
The fall men’s & women’s Sunday evening Bible studies will
begin September 18th at 6:00 PM & will meet every other week.
Ladies: our fall series is entitled Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent by Beth Moore.
Upcoming sessions include: Session #1 - September 18th - Introduction
Session #2 - October 2nd - Where Will My Help Come From?
New Ladies’ Small Group on Wednesday Evenings A new women’s class will be offered every Wednesday
during the same time slot as the AWANA program, 6:30 - 8:00 PM, starting September 14th. The study is
entitled Loving God and Others: The Heart of True Faith.
This study looks at how Jesus simplified the rules and regulations of the law into two great commands: Love God and Love People. These two commands define the heart of Christian Faith. We know how busy life becomes so there will be no homework. Please plan to join in this study and spend some time relaxing with other women while studying God’s Word. For further information, see Cindy Trimmer. Please sign
up on the church bulletin board if you plan to attend.
Seniors in Service Luncheon All seniors ages 50 & up are invited to attend our next luncheon
on Tuesday, September 20th at 11:45 AM. This event will
feature a harvest theme & the meal will include tacos, corn on the cob, & dessert. Please sign up on the church bulletin board if you plan to attend, or call the church office at 724-437-6850.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Community Event - Dancing with a Pink Ribbon Our neighbors at Southwestern Gastrointestinal Specialists
have asked to host an event with the program Dancing with a Pink Ribbon in our Cherry Tree Alliance parking lot, and we are happy to partner with them in this venture. On Thursday, September 15th, a mobile unit will be open in our parking lot
from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM offering free clinical breast exams, mammogram referrals, mammogram vouchers (for those who are
uninsured / underinsured), and flu shots (billable to your insurance). SWGI will have a table with small giveaways & info on their services.
A Republic Enterprise food truck will also be there with lunches to
purchase (featuring locally sourced vegetables).
We welcome our church family &
our honored guests to our
First Responders Appreciation Sunday!
Thank you for joining us for this special
Service of Recognition & Appreciation.
Please join us following this service for a
time of good food & fellowship.
To our guests today, we offer our sincere appreciation for all you do
in your roles as First Responders. We can never adequately express
our thanks for your service, but we hope to give back a little today to
those of you who give so much to our community. God bless you!

What Is AWANA?
AWANA is an international, nondenominational, Bible-centered youth organization providing weekly club programs for 3-year-olds and up. The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of the words in the
phrase “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” (2 Timothy 2:15). AWANA exists to reach children and youth with the gospel of Christ
and train them to serve Him. Our AWANA program is one hour and thirty minutes long and includes four segments: Opening Ceremony,
Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council Time (Bible Lesson Time). AWANA offers an award system that motivates clubbers to achieve
individual awards as well as weekly team awards.
