LIGHTING OF ADVENT CANDLES Reader 1: Throughout this season we have lived, waited, and remembered the hope, peace, joy, and love of God found in Christ.
Reader 2: Tonight we gather together and light the Christ Candle. With the birth of Christ, salvation has drawn near.
Reader 3: The Word which was with God at the beginning came down and lived with us. While we were yet living in the valley of the shadow of death, the light of new life burst forth.

For many years, Riverside as a congregation has supported the important mission work of several local nonprofit organizations and a few non-local ones. Currently, those organizations include: Housing for Homeless (formerly Coalition for the Hungry and Homeless), Teen Missions, Second Harvest Food Bank, Salvation Army Domestic Violence Program, Good News Jail Ministries, The Special Gathering, Seafarers Ministry, Central Brevard Sharing Center, Duvall Home, Good Shepherd Ministries, and Presbyterian Theological Education Fund.
