YSS Courses in New Haven

•  Yale College courses available in a wide range of subjects in two 5-week sessions.

•  Housing is available in the residential colleges.

Online Courses

•  Yale College courses are now offered online to students who cannot be in New Haven.

•  These courses are taught by Yale faculty and offer Yale credit.

Where can I go?

•  Choose from more than 200 programs around the world

•  Courses offered in English & host-country language

•  Programs vary in structure

When  can  I  go?  

•  Any  summer    •  Second  semester  of  Sophomore  year  

•  Either  semester  of  junior  year  

Why go abroad as a Second-Semester Sophomore?

•  Two years left at Yale when you return

•  Experience abroad will impact academic and extracurricular choices upon return

•  May be easier with some majors

Overview of Study Abroad Options

 

YSS  Faculty-­‐led  Study  Abroad  

•  Study  abroad  with  faculty  during  the  summer  on  a  language  or  non-­‐language  program.      

•  Sessions  range  from  4-­‐10  weeks.      

•  Programs  are  for  Yale  credit  and  are  ISA  eligible  for  qualified  students.  

The Global Summer Program

•  Study abroad with students from International Alliance of Research Universities.

•  Courses taught in English. Some are ISA eligible and some are eligible for transfer credit.

•  Funding options available for some programs.

•  GSP course here at Yale.

Yale in London

•  One spring term session and two six-week summer sessions every year

•  Courses are taught by both Yale Faculty and British faculty from various UK institutions

•  Courses generally cover history, literature, history of art/architecture, drama, and sociology

•  All courses earn Yale credits

•  All Yale undergraduates are eligible, regardless of major

Year or Term Abroad (YTA) & Summer Designated Programs

•  Programs that are not run by Yale, but have been designated as eligible for general Yale credit –  Year: 9 credits –  Semester: 4 credits –  Summer: 2 credits

•  Credit toward major awarded by department
