Foundation Design: Soil Profile

• Soil underneath the site mainly consists of loose sand and loose silty clay.

• Shale bedrock exists at approximately 60 – 70 ft. below the surface.

• Shallow spread footing foundation system resulted in large settlements and therefore was not economical.

• Final Design: Pile Foundation System with Steel H-Piles driven directly into the bedrock with a reinforced concrete pile cap.

• HP 14x177 Piles arranged in 4x7 grid • Material: A572 Grade 50 Steel
