Why Use a Wiki?

UCSF and other UC staff/students can log in with their main campus account (MyAccess/Single Sign-On)

Non-UCSF users can get guest accounts Internet connection is all you need (no VPN,

etc.)

Familiar format: a website, in a browser, with links to other pages & downloadable files

Edit pages with rich-text interface Attach files to pages just like you would to

email

2. Easy to Use

Assign different permissions (view, edit, remove, etc.) to different users or groups

Space can be public, private, or a mix of both

3. Flexible Permissions

Wiki@UCSF is a service of the Library, supported by Library staff

All wiki data is stored on secure UCSF servers and backed up daily

MyAccess URL: https://myaccess.ucsf.edu/ Log in, then select ‘Wiki’ from Apps list

Direct URL: https://wiki.library.ucsf.edu/ Click ‘Log In’ link at top right of screen

Library Website: http://www.library.ucsf.edu/ From ‘Services’ menu, select ‘Wiki@UCSF’ then

click the green ‘Go To Wiki@UCSF’ button

1. Go to Wiki@UCSF and Log In

Contact space administrator to access a specific space if you don’t see it listed on your Dashboard

If you don’t know who the space administrator is, send an email to wiki-admin@ucsf.edu

2. Get Access to Spaces

Submit the online request form at http://www.library.ucsf.edu/services/wiki/requestform

Once space is created, you’re the space administrator and can add content and set user access permissions

3. Request a New Wiki Space

Go to the Wiki Training space (top of the spaces list)
