Color Theory:The Science of Color

Week of 3/30 - 4/3

What are the PRIMARY COLORS?

Red, Yellow, and Blue

What are the WARM COLORS?

Reds, Oranges, Yellows, and Pinks

What are the COOL COLORS?

Greens, Blues, and Violets

What do Red and Blue make?

Violet!

What do Red and Yellow make?

Orange!

What do Blue and Yellow make?

Green!

What do we call Violet, Orange, and Green?

Secondary Colors

The Primary and Secondary colors create the main elements

of the Color Wheel.

Colors on the Wheel are always in the same place. Orange is always next to Red and Yellow.

Blue is always next to Green and Violet.

...And so forth.

This Color Wheel has even more shades on it.

What do you notice?

Are any colors grouped together?

Where are the Primary Colors?

Where are the Warm or Cool colors?
