The next few slides will contain color. There are different types of color charts used in today’s life. The most frequently used chart, however, is the paint color chart. This chart has a wide variety of colors which can be used in our everyday lives and it is very effective in every aspect of it.

This chart shows the difference between warm and cool colors.

This is a color chart consisting of color pencils. Each color contributes to the beauty of a picture.

This is a color chart showing the changes in color. This however is only applicable to light.

Colors can also change in tone. Each color becomes a darker shade, therefore, giving our darker colors until they all become the color black.

Colors can also set a mood or change the mood of people. For example, the color blue is assigned with sadness and the color yellow is assigned with happiness.

This color chart is the light chart. However, this is subtractive light. Subtractive light tends to create darkness or blackness.

Additive light creates white light. Different colors have different properties which contribute to the different characteristics of color.

This is an example of warm colors. Colors ranging from yellow to deep red are called warm colors.

This is a great example of cool colors. Colors ranging from blues to deep purples are known as cool colors.

Tone

Tone is the changing of color from light to dark.

Tone can also be defined as the way the light shines on an object. This can give an effect of a black and white type of picture.

This is a great example of tone. This image shows the color tonal difference, which in turn creates depth within the image.

Tone always has a base color on which light is shone. The lighted areas are the areas which receive the most white in a black and white image.

Tone in color can give us a variety of tonal colors.

In this image, tea and coffee is used to give the different tones. Notice that the dark areas are the areas that receive the least light and the lighter areas receive the most light.

The same principle of tea and coffee is used in this image. This image takes on an interesting turn, as tea and coffee gives the image an old feel and look.

Tone is also used in the hair industry. This is an example of tonal colors in hair.

As this image shows, tone also gives dimension and an image. Some images do not necessarily have tone in them.

A picture of President Obama during his campaign when he was running for president. Tonal images also create moods in people, as color does. Thus, color and tone are always associated with each other.
