Statistics from Puspakom show that 4,111 commercial buses were not brought in for their compulsory inspections last year to have their brakes and tyres checked.

In related developments:

• A total of 4,513 buses were fined by JPJ last year for not displaying the Puspakom inspection discs;

• The Pan Malaysian Bus Operators Association stressed that its members would not risk flouting the law; and

• Runners alleged that it was common for bus operators to send their vehicles for inspection only once a year.
