Participants: 10 x 18-21 year old students living away from home

Method: Questionnaire

Research Results

6/10 people are in a relationship. All of these relationships are long distance (over 50 miles in distance)

All 6 people speak to their partner everyday

More Results

Only 20% of people keep a diary, although those that do keep it up to date

All people in a relationship commented that it was difficult to arrange to see their partner when apart

Main benefits:

Notify the other “half” of the calendar - colour coordinations

Allow repeat events/university timetabling (showing both people’s timetables)

Simplicity

Information available at a glance

Connect to Facebook and social networks and update both calendars

Design Direction

We learnt that most couples prefer communication that isn’t instant

All couples we surveyed need better coordination in making plans
