Summary It is urgently necessary to construct a Limit State

Design Method incorporating reliability techniques in the process of transition towards Performance Provision Design.

Data to be collected for optimizing designs are thought not only to serve as simple mathematical statistic works but also to be used as materials for geo-technical verification. It is hoped that in the future these databases will be available for differing ground characteristics and regions and contribute towards internationally integrated design standards.
