Water and Land Forms - Teacher Instructions

Options for exploring landforms:

1. Print the student sheet and have students label the landforms

2. Skip the map this week and do the water form booklet on the Catholic Schoolhouse blog.

3. Find the following landforms on a classroom-sized world map: (for older students)

Island - Great Britain is the largest island. Also, Ireland, Iceland, Sicily (just off the “toe” if Italy), Cyprus

(Below Greece).

Lake - Lake Ladoga of Russia is the largest, Lake Lonega (Russia), and Lake Vanern (Sweden).

Isthmus - narrow strip of land connecting two larger pieces, such as the isthmus of Corinth which connects

the Peloponnesian Peninsula to the mainland.

Bay - Bay of Biscay (north of Spain, west of France), Hudson Bay.

Peninsula - Iberian Peninsula (Spain and surrounding land), Italian peninsula and many others.

Strait - Strait of Gibraltar runs between the Iberian Peninsula and Africa. The strait of Dover is the narrow-

est part of the English Channel.
