(BOISE)–TheIdahoDepartmentofLands(IDL)auc-tioned39lotsatPriestLakefordeededownershipatapublicauctioninCoeurd’Alene. Thelandsalesgenerated$18.9millionforthePublicSchoolEndowment. Alloftheleasedlotsintheauctionhavecabinsonthemandareunderlease.ThelandisownedbytheStateofIda-hoandthecabinsandotherimprovementsonthelandareownedbytheleaseholdersaspersonalproperty.Thecur-rentleaseholdersappliedtoparticipateintheauction. Fortyoneleasedlotswereofferedatauction,38oftheselotssoldtothecurrentlessees.Onelothadacompetitivebidandwaspurchasedbyanon-lessee,theappraisedvalueofthatpropertywas$740,000anditsoldfor$1.1million.Thewinningbiddermustalsopaytheformerlesseetheappraisedvalueforthecabin.Twolotsdidnotreceiveanybidsattheauction. Allthelotsarelakefrontproperties.TheStatecanacceptnolessthantheappraisedvalueoftheendowmentlandsthatareauctioned. Thetotalacreageofthelandthatsoldwasapproximately45acres. InFebruary2016theLandBoardapprovedtheauctionof334leasedlotsatPriestLakeandPayetteLakebytheendof2019.Additionally,IDLwillbeauctioningunleasedlotsatbothlakesoverthenextfewyears. In2010theLandBoardapprovedaplantodivesttheState’sownershipofmostofthecottagesitesatbothlakesovertimeinordertoreinvesttheproceedsintoassetsthatgeneratehigherreturnsthantherentfromthelots.
