How to Create Your Own Food Log
• Food Log is a chart keeping track of all foods and drinks that you have consumed in the day.
• It helps track eating patterns
• It helps track the number of calories, vitamins, and fats helping to keep track the healthiness of one’s diet.
What is a Food Log?
• Open Microsoft Excel
• Form a chart with 4 columnso First column labeled “Foods Eaten”o Second column labeled as “Time”o Third column labeled as “Number of Calories”o Forth column labeled as “Nutrition” which includes
fats and vitamins

• After every meal, you need to write down the food that you ate under “Food Eaten”.o Even junk food or
random meals during the day
• After each meal, write down the time that you ate that meal.
How to fill in the Food Log?
• Then record the number of calories of each food.
• In the last column, record the nutrition in your meals/foods.o Includes:

• You will calculate the total number of calories and nutrients in your meals.
• From your research of what a healthy diet consists of, you will decide if your diet is considered healthy.
Afterwards
• Since we are researching the diets of other countries, a similar food log will be constructed for each country.
• Pick foods that are in typical meals for the people of the country and make a food log.
Around the World’s Food Log
• Open Microsoft Excel and create 3 columns
o First Column labeled “Foods Eaten”o Second Colum labeled “Number of Calories”o Third Column labeled “Nutrition”
The 3 columns should be filled in the same as your Food Log.
