Creating a Frequency Distribution

On a Mac

Frequency DistributionEither start a new Excel spreadsheet or click on

any cell in the current spreadsheetTitle 3 columns: Classes, Frequency,

Percentage

Create FrequenciesClick in the cell next to the first group (for

example: Female)Type =countif(C2:C21, 0)

Click in the cell next to MaleType =countif(C2:C21,1)

Total the FrequenciesSum the column of frequencies

=sum(I4:I5)

Create PercentagesCreate percentages

For the female group: =I4/I6For the male group: =I5/I6

Add Percent SymbolAdd the percent symbol / format the cells to a

percentHighlight the column for percentageHome tab Number Percentage
