Cycle / Walk to School WeekA challenge for all students

Cranford Community College

June 28th – July 2nd is…

Cycle / Walk to School Week

Get involved!!

YES!

Does it matter how I get to school?

Cycling and Walking are both excellent methods of exercise

Cycling can get you fitter

Walking canhelp keep you

in shape

It can put you in a good mood

It keeps your heart healthy

It might boost your brain for

school

You canchat toyourmates,

It reduces congestion

…and pollution…

…and CO2in the

atmosphere.

…and it’s free!

What if live too far away to walk…?

Why not walk for the last few minutes of your journey ?

We call it ‘Park and Stride’!

I only live 5 minutes from

school

Every step or pedal counts.

No problem!

• Just cycle or walk when you can.

I can’t cycle or walk every

day

I have to carry all these folders, and my Cranford PE kit

and the ingredients for

food technology…

Do you need to carry all your stuff every

day?

Could you use a locker?

Why not cycle or walk on

the days when you don’t need to carry as much?

Have you seen the weather?

Why not keep an umbrella or waterproof in your bag, just in case?

What about bullying?

There’s some bad kids

round here.

Why not walk with a friend?

…and if someone does try to bully you, on your way to school…

IGNORE it if you can.

DON’T show your feelings.

WALK away.

TELL an adult who you trust.

Remember…

…YOU have the right to feel safe on your streets

• Cycle or Walk to School Week:

starts 28th June 2010

Cycling and Walking is good for:

• your physical and mental health

• the planet

• your social life

• and it’s free!
