David Bates (1840-1921) - English landscape painter, painted in oils and watercolors.Born in Cambridge. From 1855 he worked as a painter at the porcelain factory in Worcester - painted the color of the product.Since 1880 professional artist.Bates worked mostly outdoors and wrote rural landscapes Midlands, Scotland and Wales. There are landscapes of Switzerland and Egypt.Experts attribute the style of the artist with the Birmingham school of painting.Many of his works have been shown at the Royal Academy of Arts, the Grosvenor Gallery, the Royal Society of British Artists and the Society of watercolorists London and Birmingham.Today, his works are on display in the museum of Liverpool, the City Art Gallery and Museum of Worcester and several other art galleries.His son, John Noel Bates (1870-1927), also became a landscape artist
