Industry in India.__
India is the worlds second largest producer of textile and garments after
China. It is the worlds third largest producer of cotton after China and USA;

and second largest cotton consumer after China. The textile and garment
industry in India is one of the oldest and largest manufacturing sectors in the
country. The industry fulfils a pivotal role in the Indian economy. It is a major
source of earning foreign currency, and after agriculture it is one of the largest
employers with a total work force of 35mn. In 2007 textile and garmentsaccounted for about 14% of industrial production and 16% of export
earnings.
The industry covers a wide range of activities which includes the
production of natural raw materials such as cotton, jute, silk and wool, as well as
synthetic filament and spun yarn. In addition an extensive range of finished
products are also made. The Indian textile industry accounts for about 23%
of the worlds spindle capacity, making it the second highest after China,
and around 6% of the global rotor capacity. Also, it has the highest loom
capacity-including hand looms- with a 61% share.
India accounts for about 12% of the worlds production of textile,
fibers and yarns; this includes jute, of which it is the largest producer.The
country is the largest producer of silk and cellulose, fiber and yarn, and the
fifth largest producer of synthetic fiber and yarn.
The Indian Textile Industry occupies an important place in the economy
of the country because of its contribution to the industrial output, employment
generation and foreign exchange earnings. At present, the contribution of the
textile industry to the GDP is about 9%. The textile industry provides direct
employment provider in India next to agriculture. The contribution of this
industry to gross export earnings is about 42% and it adds less than 1.5%
to the export bill of the country.

The textile industry is a self reliant industry from the production of raw
materials to the delivery of finished goods with considerable value addition at
each stage of processing.
The industry was delicensed in 1991 and under the current policy noprior government approval is necessary to set up textile mills. The per
capita cloth availability in the country has increased from 30.7 sq. meters in
2000-01 to 37.27 sq. meters in 2008-09. The textile sector along with the
garment sector has had a continual increase in the FDI in flow from 80.99
million in (Jan - may) 2000 to 691.83 million in (Jan - may) 2009.

The company has a wide supplier base. The main raw material is
fabric, a textile product, manufactured in different parts of our country. Raw

Production Department:
First the sample is approved by the customers and then the
production starts. The production takes place according to the work order
created by the merchandiser. If there are any variations in the consumption of
fabric it is informed to the merchandiser and also to the customer.
The requirement of the customer is given by the customer in a Tech
Pattern which includes the design, pattern, colour and the detailed sketch of the
product. While the production process is on the Quality Controller from the
party inspects the quality of the products and informs the supervisor about the
mistakes to be altered.

Learning Experience
Working with DSC Internationnal Pvt. Ltd. was a great learning
experience for me. During this one month duration I visited all the departmentsof the organization and studied the way they function. I noticed that every
department has its own distinct but coordinated way of functioning. Each
department work in a way that it does not hinder the other departments but on
the same time mistakes of a single department also affects the other departments
directly or indirectly. I would say that all the departments are very cooperative
and the production process takes place in a very systematic way.
The company gives proper training to all the new employees. There is an
effective implication of Mc Kinseys 7 S frame works which enables all the
departments to work hard to achieve the goals of the organization.

Conclusion
The company mainly aims at quality and takes much care while
