Some Facts about Diabetes and the Hope Foundation for Kids with Diabetes

• In Mexico, there are thousands of children with diabetes. • There are now 150 children registered in our foundation.• Each year we have 2 camps for recently diagnosed children and

their parents where they all receive training through classes and workshops.

• We offer a school for parents and children two times each week. • We have a yearly Christmas Posada for the kids and their families.• We also have a special party on “kids day” each year.• We offer classes in hospitals and also in local communities where

there is a high index of children with diabetes. • Diabetes is expected to increase by 300% worldwide in the next 15

years. • The monthly cost of treating a child with diabetes in Mexico is

between $3000 and $5000 pesos ($230-$385 USD) for each child. • Needed are glucometers, test strips, insulin, tourniquets, syringes

and regular medical testing
