your degree?
THE ACADEMIC CALENDAR!

POP QUIZWhat is the OCGPA required to
continue in an Honours program?
The Rule
5.00 (C+) OCGPA
OCGPA & Academic Decisions• OCGPAs are calculated twice a year at the end of an
academic session (i.e., in May after the Fall/Winter session and in August after the Summer session if you take Summer courses)
• OCGPA determines your academic decision (i.e., your eligibility to continue)
• If you have a negative decision at the end of the Fall/Winter session, see an advisor immediately
• A higher OCGPA at the end of Summer may not override a negative decision at the end of Fall/Winter, so see an advisor immediately
OCGPA & Academic Decisions
• Predict your OCGPA and academic decisionlaps.yorku.ca/student-resources/gpa-calculator/
• Monitor your gradesCurrent Students > My Online Services > “Check My Grades & Progress”myonlineservices.students.yorku.ca/
• Ask yourself: How many credits will you have taken at the end of the session? What OCGPA will you need?

Manage Your Academic RecordStruggling? Confused? Need to lighten your course load?
What is a drop deadline?• The last day to remove a course from your transcript via REM• Fall 2017: November 10, 2017
What is a “W” deadline?• The last day to withdraw from a course • You get a “W” for the course on your transcript instead of a grade • W’s have no impact on the GPA and are not considered a “credit
taken”• Fall 2017 W deadline is: December 4, 2017
Where are these published?• Current Students > See All Important Dates• registrar.yorku.ca/enrol/dates/fw17
Manage Your Academic Record
You control what ends up on your transcript, in your credit range, and in your OCGPA.
Make important decisions before these deadlines.
OSAP
• If you’re receiving OSAP, lightening your course load can have financial consequences.
• Failing courses can also have financial consequences (in addition to academic consequences).
• Contact Student Financial Services to explore your options.
Can a course be repeated?
YESUp to 3 times (pending course availability)
Most recent grade = the grade that counts in the GPA
All attempts (and grades) still appear on the transcript. Earlier attempts will receive the “NCR –
No Credit Retained” notation beside the letter grade.
Stay on track by self-auditingWhat to Look For: Have I taken courses that correspond to my
Calendar and checklist?
