$$ Cost-sharing $$ at U of L

“The Office of Distance Learning Library Services will receive $30 per student per course subsequent to a report each semester on services provided to distance education students.”

U of L Board of Trustees, 2002

Library Subsidy

• The University Library System subsidizes the first $25.00 of the cost of any item provided to a student (including distance learners).

• Academic unit cost-sharing of $30.00 per course enrollment barely covers the cost of processing one interlibrary loan for one student.

Are you expectinga budget increase?

Can you afford to retrieve, copy and deliver library material, at no charge, to distance learners ?

Collaboration!• Does your university have an Office of

Distance Learning Library Services?

• Consider collaboration with your University’s Office of Distance Learning Library Services (DLLS) rather than developing your own service for distance learners.
