THE WORD IS THE PRESENCE OF OUR LORD THROUGH SCRIPTURE, THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH WE CAN CONTINUE TO BUILD OUR FAITH.

This past weekend was a busy one, here at Divine Mercy Parish. Our parish 2nd graders participated in a First Eucharist Re-treat. They created personal crosses, explored the church and saw how Eucharist/unleavened bread are made. Thanks to Mi-chael Abdalla for answering the children’s Eucharist related questions. Thanks to all the parents, teachers and aides who help make it a very special day. A special thanks to the Confirmation students who helped at the retreat and at the setup, where we baked the unleavened bread. Please keep our parish 2nd graders in your prayers as they continue to prepare for their big day.
First Eucharist Meeting If you missed the First Eucharist meeting on Thursday, February 18th, please stop by during religious education office hours to pick up your packet. This packet will outline how you can help prepare your child for the Sacrament of Eucharist and ex-plain the schedule for the remainder of the year.

From the Desk of Father Pauselli Today is the fourth Sunday of Lent and we call it Laetare (Rejoice) Sunday. All through Lent we have been focusing on those Ash Wednesday words, ―Repent and believe in the Gospel.‖ Today, with Lent more than half over, we rejoice over the good news that God wants to reconcile with us. So we pray today for the grace to persevere through the rest of Lent, preparing ourselves to celebrate Easter and our reconciliation with our loving God. Congratulations to Vera Mae Bender who will be baptized this weekend at Divine Mercy. Vera Mae is the daughter of John and Kate Buntz Bender and was born on December 11, 2015. May the Lord bless Vera Mae and her family on this most special occasion! Did you know that the first Roman Catholic Speaker of the House of Representatives, John W. McCormack, Democrat of Massachusetts, was elected in 1962, 173 years after the House was created. Six of McCormack’s nine successors have been Catholics. Have a great week!

How Can You Laugh At A Time Like This?
Someone told me I haven’t laughed since my sister died 2 years ago. Why? The ability to laugh at an-
noyances, crises, and even outright disasters can literally save your life. Laughter is the best pain re-
liever with no side effects; however many people today are laughter deficient and humor impaired. It’s
time for more LOL; come and have a good belly laugh.
