DONUTS DONUTS THAT THAT MAKE A MAKE A STATEMENTSTATEMENT

Begin by thawing a dozen of Mel-O-Cream’s

Cinnamon Twists frozen dough

Do not pull the layers open like this picture

here.

As you can see, the cinnamon layer is

tucked snuggly in the middle to preserve this aromatic spice even when twisting

the dough.

Stretch the dough gently; roll the

dough against a hard, clean surface

so that the twist elongates to

approximately twice its size.

It’s entirely up to you as to how loose or tight you want the twist in the dough.

Arrange the dough on your surface so that it

is horizontal.

Next, take both ends and carefully bend the ends so that it make an

arch shape.

Now delicately cross one end

over the other. Adjust the dough so that both ends are even and the

opening is not lop-sided.

You want to make sure that there is

enough space at the top.

Otherwise, the opening may close

together when baking. This space is approximately 1.5 inches in diameter.

Proof your ribbons for 30 minutes. After proofing,

you’ll still need to fry them on both sides just

as you would with regular yeast-raised donuts.

The visibility of the twists is

dependent upon how tightly you

twist the dough.

April 22nd is Earth Day. Celebrate environmental awareness by

bringing a dozen of these to your

eco-friendly home.

Throwing a Welcome Home Party for your

favorite soldier? A couple dozen of these yellow-

ribbon doughnuts is sure to be a memorable treat!

You or someone you know

participating in the Think Pink Walk this October?

Bring a couple boxes of these donuts to the

finish line and see how quickly they’ll vanish.

April is also Autism Awareness Month.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t show your

support for the cause all-year round.

These are great for support group

get-togethers, fundraisers, and other Autism-

related events.

Does your child’s school

participate in Red Ribbon Week or

D.A.R.E.?

How about Red-Ribbon donuts?
