Dress Circle

From Mughal-E-Azam to Jodha Akbar, cinema has held us captive. But the old single screen theatres which brought the magic is under threat. The front row, the rear stall, the balcony, the dress circle and the box are terms that has been forgotten.

Today, the Delhi’s single screen theatres are fighting to keep pace with the times.

Golcha Cinema, Box office: Designed by W M Namjoshi, the cinema is a

splendid example of 1950’s Retro-Art déco style

Regal Cinema: New Delhi’s first Theatre designed by Walter Sykes George in1932

Shiela Cinema : India’s First 70mm Theater, built in1961.
