The blending of instruments such as mandolin and whistle with guitar and bodhran creates the perfect backdrop for either instrumental music or song and whether this band is playing exhilarating jigs and reels or haunting Celtic ballads, there is always a tale to be told. Irish music is essentially part of an oral tradition and as such, lends itself best to a live show. The house is furnished with beautiful period furniture together with an extensive collection of Irish portrait paintings, mainly from the National Gallery. The history of the Talbot family is recorded in the Great Hall, where portraits of generations of the family tell their own story of Ireland’s stormy history. Many additions and alterations have been made to this romantic and beautiful structure, but the contours of the surrounding parklands have changed little in 800 years, retaining a sense of the past. Gala Dinner at Luttrellstown Castle
A 30 minute transfer outside the city brings us to Luttrellstown Castle. A delightful and charming small castle on extensive grounds. It was built in the
15th century as the family home of the Luttrells family and remained as the family home until 1800. After some years the celebrated Guinness family
bought it and in the 1930’s Ernest Guinness gave the castle to his daughter as a wedding gift. It was during her time through to the 50’s that the castle
developed more into a manor as she was the hostess of a great many parties. It closed as a private dinner venue for some years as it slowly fell into
‘soft’ decay. Following a careful refurbishment it re-opened very recently for private special events. The main salon can take 100. The Castle is
exclusively a private rental Venue.
Enhancements:
Irish Wolfhounds on arrival
Vintage Car Transfers to Luttrellstown Castle
On arrival at the Castle the powerful sounds of the Irish pipes will lure you to the front door where the red carpet will be laid out. Alternatively you can be
welcomed to the Castle by a pair of majestic Irish Wolfhounds. You will be greeted by your waiters for tonight with trays of champagne. Drinks and
canapés will be served in the Grand Hall. This is the perfect location to take in the majestic settings.
A very regal sound of a trumpeter will ring. This is your call to dinner.
As you make your way in to the elegant dining room, the chandeliers are glistening, the candlabras are flickering and very subtle lighting all work together
to really highlight the magnificence of this beautiful room. Soft gold linens on the tables and chiavari chairs finish the room to perfection. Luttrellstown is
the perfect setting to reward your guests and congratulate them on their well deserved awards.
ENTERTAINMENT ANUNA Anúna the world-renowned Celtic choir, have developed a performance that is exciting and entertaining as well as being extremely elegant. The singers
have an immense amount of experience between them and are renowned across Ireland.
The show begins with the room lights dimming and the entrance of the women in great cloaks holding candles. They chant and move through the room.
The performance is varied after this dramatic entrance. Each song is explained in context and the audience is allowed to feel personally involved. The arrangements of some of our songs are over a thousand years old. The material ranges from these ancient songs and chants up to the present.
FOLLOWED BY Affiniti Affinití is made up of Emer Barry (Soprano), Aisling Ennis (Harp) and Mary Mc Cague (Violin). All three are classically trained and Masters of their instruments but it is their genuine affinity with eachother and their desire to create and perform together that makes them really special. Their music is hard to define - think the lovechild of Classical and Rock mixed with celtic blood and that's Affinití Emer (Longford), Mary (Louth) and Aisling (Dublin) all boast intimidating CVs. They have performed as solo and orchestral musicians throughout Ireland, UK, Europe, USA and Asia with artists including Kanye West, Josh Ritter, Bill Bailey, WestLife, Michael Buble, Rod Stewart and Sinead O’Connor. They have been backed by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in appearance on Mooney Tunes and despite keeping a lid on their recent activity are enjoying far flung admiration for their work. Equally comfortable in the realms of classical, rock, pop and opera, Affinití move seamlessly between the genres mesmerising audiences whether they are supporting Fr. Liam Lawton or Paddy Casey in concert.
