At this screen, you will see all of the information that you are authorized to view. You may have to use the search feature to narrow the choices.

Click on the Organization hyperlink

You are at the screen for your organization.

In the lower section, you will see your PARENT and any CHILD resources.

Click New Child Resource to enter a new FACILITY

Pop up box appears – click drop down and choose Facility

Add the Facility Name and click CONTINUE

Complete the additional information for the facility and click SAVE.

Make sure you see this message.

If you are adding equipment for this facility, you can extend the window to the full screen size by clicking here (the center block).

Click New Child Resource to enter new Equipment.

Pop up box appears – click drop down and choose Equipment / Specialty Team

Choose Discipline

Choose Type

Choose Commodity

Refer to the “Commodity Report” distributed electronically by the county.

In this example, we are adding a Fire Apparatus - Engine

A pop-up box appears with a number of detailed questions that have been assembled for each commodity. Please answer all of the questions. You may have to scroll down or to the right to see all of the questions.

Questions marked with

a * are required.

Once all answers are completed, click save.

Scroll Bars

A box opens for this resource - Engine

The questions answered in the previous step can always be accessed and edited by clicking on this button.

This area is intended for the radio call

Unit ID in this case would be “ENGINE”,

Unit # is the designated alphanumeric radio call such as 42-10.

The next step – click the tab for RESOURCE TYPING.

NIMS Typing

• Allows organizations to type resources according to the National Incident Management System resource types as required by federal law

• Simple process through use of Total Visibility

• Not all resources have a NIMS Type.

Click the tab for NEW TYPING.

The TYPING dropdown options will open.

Click the drop down for Category / ESF and choose Firefighting (ESF #4)

Click the drop down for Resource and choose the most appropriate.

Engine, Fire (Pumper)

Click the drop down for Type and choose the most appropriate.

Type I

If you are not sure of the proper Type, Click the Info Icon for a pop up box.

Read the description and pick the one that is appropriate. You can just click on the Radio Button to make your choice.

It is strongly recommended that a brief narrative description of the equipment should be added to the “Notes:” box

Once all of the information for this resource is entered – Click SAVE

Make sure you see this message before moving on!

If you are going to add equipment that is carried on this apparatus or apparatus sub-systems, click NEW CHILD RESOURCE otherwise click CLOSE.

Sub-Systems

• Both apparatus and facilities are capable of having sub-systems

• Sub-systems are equipment or capabilities which are a permanent part of a specific apparatus or facility

• It is important that for each apparatus or facility put in the system you list ALL appropriate sub-systems

Caution is required when entering data.

Make sure the entry is assigned to the proper Organization,

Facility or Equipment / Specialty Team.

If in doubt, close each window and return to the organization.

You are at the organization level

Facilities, Personnel and Equip / Specialty Teams assigned to the ORGANIZATION are visible here. Click on the hyper link to open up a window with information about each Child Resource.

As more resources are added, they will become visible in the list of their parent resource. It is important to make sure you are putting the commodity under the proper parent.

ORGANIZATION or a FACILITY depending on the

When adding a Specialty Team, open the organizations and then open the facility the team exist under.

Click

New Child Resource

Drop down to Specialty Team,

Notice that the PARENT is listed in the pop up block.

Use the drop downs until you see the Special Response Teams under the Fire-Rescue Discipline. Choose Swift Water Rescue. Click Continue

Add a narrative to describe the team. Add the information that identifies the team’s Unit ID

Make an attempt to Type the Specialty team. Click the Resource Typing tab, choose the most appropriate and use the INFO Icon to pick the category the team most closely matches.
