What it means for you

Standards to meet in the classroom NJCCS STANDARD 8.1 (COMPUTER AND

INFORMATION LITERACY ) ALL STUDENTS WILL USE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS TO GATHER AND ORGANIZE INFORMATION AND TO SOLVE PROBLEMS.

What it means for you

Descriptive Statement of 8.1: Using computer applications and technology tools

students will conduct research, solve problems, improve learning, achieve goals, and produce products and presentations in conjunction with standards in all content areas, including career education and consumer family, and life skills. They will also develop, locate, summarize, organize, synthesize, and evaluate information for lifelong learning.

What it means for you

Summary – it isn’t all about the technology – it is about what students do with technology to achieve learning outcomes Focus on outcomes like:

Critical thinking Analysis of information Integrating concepts and ideas Skills ~ Doing

What it means for this class

We will focus on both how to work with technology and how you will use it with students

Not enough to make things – have to show me how your students will use the technology to learn.

I’ll show you some examples when we begin each new project to help you understand.
