WELCOMEFrom Seattle Theatre Group, a non-profit arts organization
Welcome to Elf The Musical, the final Broadway at the Paramount show of 2017! As
the year draws to a close, we gather together with family and friends to reflect on
fond memories of the past year and look forward to fulfilling experiences in the year
ahead. Seattle Theatre Group presents countless Education & Community Programs
and fortifies community partnerships, all of which enrich so many lives every year,
and will continue to do so in 2018.
We are thrilled for another phenomenal year of STG’s More Music @ The Moore!
Now in its seventeenth year, this program provides young artists ages 14-21 training
and rehearsal time with professional and peer musicians, as well as production and
promotional support, with two culminating performances at the historic Moore
Theatre. For musicians interested in getting a head start on their New Year’s
resolutions, STG is currently seeking exceptional young artists to audition for this
year’s program. Auditions will be held at The Vera Project on January 8-10, 2018,
and the deadline to sign up is December 29, 2017.
STG is honored to join forces with so many of our valued community partners to
bring hands-on arts education into a variety of areas in our region with our Dance
For PD® program. This series is designed for individuals with Parkinson’s disease
and their care partners and is taught by professional dancers and teaching artists
trained in the Dance For PD® method. Start the year off right with our winter
sessions, beginning in January! More information about this incredible program can
be found on page 19.
The past year saw an exciting development in STG’s partnership with Westlake
Dance Center: a new collaborative workshop series called Broadway at Westlake.
Dancers within our community are invited to take classes connected with Broadway
shows being presented here at The Paramount Theatre. Participants in past
workshops have had the pleasure of learning choreography from Aladdin and The Bodyguard, and will have the opportunity to do the same for upcoming shows like
Book of Mormon, Hamilton, and The Phantom of the Opera. Scholarships for this
program are available by request.
For additional information about More Music @ The Moore, Dance For PD®,
Broadway at Westlake, and all of STG’s Education and Community Programs
throughout the year, please visit STGPresents.org/Education.
We hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday season, and we look
forward to sharing another year of incredible experiences in the arts with you
in 2018!

STG - Dance for PD®
One of STG’s core values is to serve as catalysts for community alliances, which is why it’s been such an honor to collaborate with the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation, Des Moines Legacy Foundation, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Center for Healthy Living, and Spectrum Dance Theater to bring our Dance For PD® program to so many communities in our region.
This eight-week series of classes is designed for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease and their care partners and is taught by professional dancers and teaching artists trained in the Dance For PD® method. This program uses dance, live music, and community to develop artistry and grace while addressing such PD-
specific concerns as balance, flexibility, coordination, isolation and gait. Participants are inspired to explore movement and music in ways that are refreshing, enjoyable, and stimulating. No prior dance experience is necessary, and LIVE music is provided! Whether seated or standing, people with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, and friends will enjoy this creative and welcoming environment.
Classes are available in Lynnwood, Des Moines, Mercer Island, Seattle, and Kirkland. Winter sessions begin in January! For more information, visit STGPresents.org, or contact Shawn Roberts (Seattle Area Program Manager) at 206.467.55110 ext. 1167.

26 SEATTLE THEATRE GROUP
STG at a GlanceHistoric Theatres Tours and LibraryOne of STG’s core values is to serve as stewards of Seattle’s historic Paramount, Moore, and Neptune Theatres, and part of our commitment to keeping these spaces healthy and vibrant is to welcome a new generation of visitors and patrons to experience their magic firsthand. That’s why STG is proud to offer free Historic Theatres Tours, led by members of our well-versed volunteer staff.
“Over 450,000 patrons pass through the doors of The Paramount each year. These free tours give the public a chance to learn more about this historic Theatre while giving them a glimpse behind the scenes.” — Josh LaBelle, Executive Director
of Seattle Theatre Group.
Tours of the Paramount Theatre take place on the first Saturday of every month and guests should meet in front of the main entrance, on the corner of 9th and Pine. Tours of the Moore Theatre are the second Saturday of every month and guests should meet in front of
the main entrance, on the corner of 2nd and Virginia. NeptuneTours are the third Saturday of everymonth and guests should meet infront of the main entrance.
Additionally, Seattle Theatre Group is able to schedule tours upon request for student groups ages 7 and up. This is an excellent way for students to experience the technical aspects of the stage, take a behind-the-scenes look at backstage operations, and get an introduction to the history of the building.
It is also STG’s responsibility and privilege to protect the rich history of the Paramount, Moore and Neptune Theatres and the countless, diverse performances that have taken place on their stages. Because of this, STG created the Seattle Theatre Group Historic Theatres Library. Located on the fourth floor of the Paramount Theatre Office Tower adjacent to the theatre, the STG Historic Theaters Library is free and open to the public every Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 3pm, as well as during all public and student tours of the Paramount.

The Library first opened its doors to the public on March 1, 2012, though the project began early in December 2010. It required the gathering, sorting, documenting, cataloging, and preserving of over 100 years of historical data. With tens of thousands of volunteer hours to date, this continues to be an on-going project.
The objective of STG’s Historic Theatres Library is three-fold:• To ensure historical material that exists of the three
theatres is properly preserved and documented for future generations.
• To provide an educational environment for youth that would offer an opportunity to learn and experience the remarkable history of the three theatres.
• To offer the community a setting in which to become better acquainted with the history and thereby develop a deeper understanding of three of the few remaining historic theatres in Seattle.
Managed by the Thrasher family, and aided by several dedicated volunteers, the library’s collection includes: materials about the performers that graced the stages over the many decades, documents depicting the peaks and valleys that these theatres had to endure, information on the visionaries responsible for these theatres, priceless memorabilia, and countless signed posters, among other historical resources.
The collection’s contents are searchable by and accessible to everyone, both at the library location in the Paramount building and on STG’s website. For more information about the Library and its services, please visit stgpresents.org/library.
For more information on STG’s Historic Theatre Tours, and to access virtual tours of the Paramount, Moore, and Neptune, please visit STGPresents.org/tours.
Shining a spotlight on creativity.
The arts enrich all our lives and are an integral part of our culture and heritage. It’s why we support arts organizations within our community. They inspire, entertain,
move, and inform us in so many ways. Without the arts our community would not be the vibrant and diverse place we enjoy today.
