EndocytosisThe process of taking in materials or liquids into a cell.
2 Types:1. Phagocytosis2. Pinocytosis
Phagocytosis
The process of engulfing and ingestion of solid particles by the cell. The materials fuse with the lysosome and is then digested. The engulfed material is digested or degraded and then released by exocytosis. Also called “cell eating”
.

PinocytosisMaterial will be dissolved in water and thusthis process is also referred to as "cellulardrinking" to indicate that liquids and material dissolved in liquids are ingested by the cell.
This is opposed to the ingestion of large particulate material like bacteria or other cells or cell debris
