Relocation and Moving Plans: Before the Move
Create a team Share with everyone else involved in the
moving processMake a public announcement of the moveThe media specialist will need to prepare the
collection for the move by weeding. The media specialist will also need to take
inventory of all the equipment and decide which is no longer used or useable by your patrons such filmstrips or overhead projectors.
Order any new equipment and furniture for the new location so that it will be ready for the arrival of your collection.
Relocation and Moving Plans: During the Move
It is time to start packaging everything
Do a walkthrough of the new space to make sure everything is ready and set up for the arrival of the collection and equipment.
Bring equipment and materials in and unpack.
Remain flexible because everything will not go according to plan.
