A partnership between the Volunteer Center and the Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization (MEVO)

100 volunteers!!!!! Many of these volunteers have only been involved marginally through programs such as Bike Tour, All Wrapped Up, Mentoring Youth. Opportunity to get them more involved with us. Direct work with our staff.

Great opportunity to attract families of all kinds! We had young children, grandparents, college students, AmeriCorps members far from home, foster children and their supervisors.

What did we accomplish?

Removed 50, old pallets from the gardenRepaired several hoses

Made 30 gallons of bee foodRefurbished and built the inner parts for 9 bee hives

Learned about organic gardening, container gardeningCleaned, created new, and rearranged approx. 100 container gardens

Gathered, dried and packed up 8 large garbage bags full of pine needles used to create bee smoke

Mulched a water drainage areaEmptied out 3 large truck-loads of soil and compost

Made some wonderful new friends by working hard together!
