The “Castagnole” are traditional Italian Carnival sweets. Made of flour, eggs, sugar, lemon, butter and yeast, are then fried in oil and served with icing sugar. They take their name from their similarity to “castagne” (chestnuts).

The “frappe”, as well as the “castagnole”, are typical Carnival sweets. The ingredients are the same, but their shape is different.Their origin is from ancient Rome.
