What Is FOG Computing.

Fog Computing is a technology that extends cloud computing and services to the edge of the network.

It provides data, compute, storage and application services to the users like cloud.

Fog computing is an emerging technology that is basically used for Internet of Things.

Why do we need FOG Computing.

Existing data protection mechanisms such as encryption, failed in securing the data from the attackers.

The most evident bottleneck seen is because of Limited Bandwidth problem.

With proliferation of cloud computing placing added demands on Internet speed and connecting, Latency is becoming a more critical concern for everyone from the end user to the enterprise.

Another prominent limitations of cloud computing includes requirement of high speed reliable internet connectivity and sometimes multi-homing to avoid link outages and high latency but would be very expensive and complex.

Existing Systems.Cloud Computing has provided many opportunities for

enterprise by offering their customers a range of computing services. Current “pay-as-you-go” cloud computing model becomes an efficient alternative to owning and managing private data centers for customers facing Web application.

Proposed Systems.Unlike traditional data centers, FOG devices are

geographically distributed over heterogeneous platforms, spanning multiple management domains. Cisco is interested in innovative proposals that facilitate service mobility across platforms and technologies that preserve end-user and content security and privacy across domains.

Advantages of Fog.Fog can be distinguished from cloud by its proximity to end-

user. The dense geographically distribution and its support for

mobility. Its provides low latency, location awareness, and improves

quality-of-services(QoS) and real time application.

Examples.

What is the Internet of Things(IoT).

Future Enhancement.Future work will expand on Fog Computing paradigm in Smart

Grid.

Independent Fog device consult directly with the cloud for periodic updates on price and demands, while interconnected Fog device may consult each other.

The use of Fog computing can accelerate the innovation process in way that has never been seen before.

Conclusion.Fog computing advantages for services in several domains,

such as Smart Grid, wireless sensor networks, Internet of Things(IOT), and software define network(SDNs).

By using decoy technique in Fog can minimize insider attacks in cloud.

Fog provides unprecedented levels of security in cloud and in social networks.
