HypothesisHypothesis
If we boil fresh water and salt water at the same time, then the salt water will boil faster.
If we boil fresh water and salt water at the same time, then the salt water will boil faster.
MaterialsMaterials
Hot Plate Ring stand Beaker Graduated cylinder Water(salt&Fresh)30ml Paper towels Computer Thermometer Stop watch
Hot Plate Ring stand Beaker Graduated cylinder Water(salt&Fresh)30ml Paper towels Computer Thermometer Stop watch
ProcedureProcedure 1.Grab Materials(Hot plate, ring
stand,beaker,graduated cylinder,water(salt&fresh)30ml, paper towels, computer,thermometer,stop watch)
2.Grab graduated cylinder and poor 30ml of fresh water into the beaker.
3.Turn on the computer and go to programs and find the lab quest and select the boiling point(#7) selection.
4. Put the hot plate on the lab station and adjust the hot plate so it is in the middle of the lab station.

Procedure Procedure
5. Grab the thermometer and plug it and put in the computer so you can collect accurate data. Make sure that your temp. is at C*.
6. Grab the paper towels and wrap them around the top(black part)of the thermometer and put it in the the top of the ring stand adjust the thermometer so it secure on the ring stand.
7. Put the 30 ml of fresh water on the hot plate. Make sure it is in the middle of the hot plate.

7. Put the 30 ml of fresh water on the hot plate. Make sure it is in the middle of the hot plate.
ProcedureProcedure
8.Slowly take the thermometer down to the water so it is almost touching the glass(make sure the thermometer is NOT touching the glass.)
9. When everything secure turn on your hot plate to 7 and turn on the stop watch and wait till your water is at a boil.
10. When the water is at boil record the data(time&temp)
11. Turn on hot plate and bring the thermometer up so it is no longer touching the water.

ProcedureProcedure
12. Pick up beaker carefully so you do not burn your self.(grab the beaker with the paper towel)
13. Poor the water into the sink and grab a new beaker for the next 3 trials of the fresh water trials.
14.repeat this process until you are done with trials.
15. After the trails for the fresh water, repeated the same process but switch the fresh water to salt water.

ProcedureProcedure
16.After the process of the whole experiment unplug hot plate and wait till it is cooled down before you touch it.
17. Put away the materials 18.analyze the data to see if your
hypothesis is correct, if not then make adjustments to the hypothesis.
