This week we will be practicing the Spike Concert ready to perform it for you in week 9. The students are really enjoying the songs and dances and I’m sure

it will be a wonderful concert which you will enjoy. The P & C will be selling BBQ sausage sandwiches on the night at 5 pm before the concert.

The students in stage 2 have enjoyed the Learn to swim lessons and the teachers have commented on the huge improvement of many of the children,

their level of confident and ability is outstanding. It was advertised that we would have a makeup swimming lesson this week but unfortunately due to circumstances we will not be having that lesson.

Last week we put a Q R code in the newsletter which has Nash translating the newsletter in Kurdish Kurmanji. We will be doing this each week so more

families can be informed about what is happening in the school.

On Saturday I attended the opening of the Stories Connect project at NECOM Art Gallery. This was a major program of the New England Writers’ Centre

in 2019. This program was focused around encouraging creative expressions and making connections between newly-resettled Ezidi refuge families and other members of the Armidale Community through the sharing and creation of stories, pictures and music. Drummond, ACPS and Martin’s Gully students participated in the writing sessions with different local authors and illustrators. Our Drummond students made the city scape which is proudly on display in the Art Gallery under the screens which are constantly playing the film which was produced to tell the story. There was a book produced about this project which is on display in the front foyer if you would like to have a look, also the Art Gallery will have the students work and the film on show for the next few weeks.

The front cover of the book showcasing the city scape made by the Drummond Year 1 and 2 students.

I would like to thank Sophie Masson for including the Drummond students in the wonderful project.

Have a great week.Julianne Crompton - Principal
