DESCRIPTION

Dorkbot CPH was held at CIID in Copenhagen. We did a presentation about Biometric Social Interaction while it was still in its stages of infancy but had a great discussion and met some fantastic people in the process!

GeekPhysicalBringing geeking into the physical world.

Power usage? Social norms? Physical body? Electronics?

BioMetricsFeedback from body signals such as:

Heart Rate Temperature Breath

How do people socially interact?

Biometric Social Interaction

• Using body signals to tell us what is happening when people interact.

• 3 Projects:

• Critical Corset

• Bio System 1

• Bio System 2 (Wireless)

• Necklace

Critical CorsetTightens when your heart rate goes up

Monday, February 7, 2011

ConceptCorset tightens as your heart rate rises

Technical: Prototype 1Fabric corset didn’t hold hourglass shape, and instead

expanded when tightened.

Prototype 2Reinforced “Proper” corset

Corset sponsored by Femme-Fatale.dk

Technical: Prototype 2 Arduino, Polar Heart Rate Monitor,

12V Battery, 2 Pumps, Airtight Bags.

Conclusions

Conditioning of wearing the corset can haveintriguing results, making the wearer more aware

of their own physiological reactions.

Public awareness means that people will beplayful in their interactions and will initiate contact.

The Next Level

Heart Rate wasn’t enough.

• Heart Rate could have been caused by anything, physical activity, caffeine... etc.

• We needed to measure more. Thus, temperature / breath.

Monday, February 7, 2011

A new system• The new system

measured heart rate, temperature and breath.

• It outputted this information in the form of a visualization that everyone could see.

• 2 Questions: How do people react to talking to each other? How do people react when they know their bio-signals are being shown to everyone else?

Improving the system

• It would be ideal to:

• Have a smaller more portable system

• Have more than one person interact

• Have a wireless system

Smaller, more portable

Monday, February 7, 2011

More than one person

Monday, February 7, 2011

Wireless

Monday, February 7, 2011

• Get people INTERACTING

• Two projectors

• Two participants

• Two signals

• One interaction

The Plan

Heart Rate Necklace

Monday, February 7, 2011

Currently being developed:Sensor to see if people are facing each other, and to determine the

distance between them.
